In September 2004 Regent Medical began a process of splitting from their “parent” company SSL. The company formed a subsidiary Regent Medical Overseas Ltd based in UK, which employed the international staff. The company used Compandben SA for the provision of outsourced payroll services for 160 or so staff in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Sweden and Switzerland.

Where possible with Regent Medical, rather than impose “our” payroll administrators we took over the management of their own outsourced payroll arrangements – notably in Finland Germany …and Belgium, which wasn’t a success! In some countries it wasn’t possible. For instance in Norway and Denmark the existing large payroll administrators were unwilling to provide a fully outsourced payroll and wanted the company to open bank accounts in the country. We found a solution using our payroll administrators in these countries. Regent Medical was in turn taken over by Molnlycke, a Swedish company in 2006, and so the payrolls were then folded into the existing Molnlycke payrolls.

We set up a payroll for Novatel in 2003 in Hong Kong including finding life insurance, pension, and health insurance. In 2005 we have set up payrolls in France and Belgium for them including setting up health and life insurance, and translation of the employee contract. In 2006 Italy, Netherlands, Japan, China, Romania and Korea have been added.

Up to Date is a dental publications company dealing in clinical dental research. The company has over the past 36 months started payrolls using Compandben SA in Taiwan, Korea, France, Hungary, South Africa Greece Russia and Sweden. The payrolls are mostly small, 1 person payrolls. Their experience has I think been very good except in Taiwan where they found the implementation unnecessarily long and bureaucratic. This in fact led us to change our payroll provider for Taiwan.
